How much will it cost to put Vance & Hines short shots on my new Sportster '48'?

I already have the pipes, I'd just like to know what it's going to cost me to have them put on. I could install them myself too but would still need someone to calibrate the fuel injection.

So, ballpark, how much will it cost to 1) have the pipes installed and calibration done or 2) just have the calibration done?

Thanks.|||If you want it done RIGHT....you will need to install the Screamin Eagle Hi-Flo Air Cleaner and Secreamin Eagle SUPER TUNER, best is to have it dyno tuned, but the new 2010 ST Software has an AUTO-TUNE feature that works well. Personally, I don't like the Short-Shots for 2 reasons...they are too short for good performance, and they create exhaust soot build-up on the wheel and sprocket. Due to the poor perfromance nature of the too short pipes, something that will help is the use of Samson Torque-Cones, there are cheaper versions of the cones out there, but they are just that, CHEAP, stamped steel, instead of machined stainless steel that is specifically angled to increase exhaust gas velocity for increased torque. With these cones, you will need to use Screamin Eagle FLAT-style exhaust gaskets. Remove the stock gasket, install the cone into the head, install the gasket, then the pipe.

Air cleaner....$150

Tq cones......$100

Super Tuner....$450

Labor will vary depending on who does it....expect tuning to be around $250-500, exhaust %26amp; a/c install, 1.5 hours.

DO NOT let anyone talk you into the Power Commander or a Stage 1 Download!!!!!

Stage 1 Download is intended for ALL HD parts ONLY. Meaning, Screamin Eagle Slip-Ons and Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner ONLY. ANY deviation from that and the download is almost uselss. The V%26amp;H slips are alot less restrictive and more free flowing than the SE Slip-Ons, meaning they are allowing the engine to flow more air through the engine. What they SHOULD have explained to you is that you needed to have the Screamin Eagle SUPER TUNER installed and have it dyno TUNED. The Stage 1 download is a generic map from HD that they "claim" is ok for all engines, EVERYWHERE, IN EVERY CLIMATE, IN EVERY ALTITUDE....BULL$hlT!!!! Every engine is as individual as we are as humans, each needs a little finesse and tuning to make it operate to its fullest potential. The difference between the Stage 1 Download and a dyno tuned Super Tuner is like night and day.
